Yoga workshops, retreats & private classes

Yoga is a practice that enables us to simultaneously soften and strengthen our body while learning ways to have a deeper understanding of our mind, breath and inner world. The principles and philosophy of yoga are as important off the mat as they are on the mat with the practice having a ripple effect into other areas of your life.

Yin and Pins Event in Mountain Creek, Sunshine Coast

Yin & Pins Classes

Slow down. Settle into stillness. Relax. Receive.

Yin and Pins combines the ancient wisdom of yoga (yin) and acupuncture (pins) providing a deeply restful and healing practice

You will be guided into floor based poses that are held for 3 to 5 minutes. This longer hold is where the magic happens. Your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia will gently start to soften and your mind will slowly start to become more present. It is a beautiful way to connect more deeply to your body, your breath and to the moment you are in.

The acupuncture points are selected to align with the theme of the class and the pins are inserted in your final resting pose.

Combining these two powerhouse healing practices can support a more profound level of relaxation, balance and wellbeing.

Check our Facebook Page for upcoming Yin & Pin event dates.

Meet your yoga teacher, Laura

Laura is the founder of Nautilus Acupuncture. She’s an Acupuncturist, Registered Nurse, qualified yoga teacher, ocean lover, adventure seeker, and mum to a little person with a big heart.

After discovering yoga in a community hall in Coogee Beach at age 20, Laura was drawn back to the practice on an immersive retreat in Bali 6 years ago. The seed was planted which resulted in her completing her Level 1 yoga teacher training on the Sunshine Coast. Laura is particularly interested in yin and restorative yoga with additional training in both styles of practice.

Yoga isn’t about a flexible body and fancy poses, it’s about learning how to listen to what your body has to say. This approach is very much in alignment with Laura’s work in Traditional Chinese Medicine where the physical body is intimately connected to the mental, emotional, spiritual, and energetic body. These Eastern practices are a way to connect more deeply to your body, your mind and the world around you.

There are key themes that are naturally interwoven into Laura’s yoga teaching style:

  1. Learning to live in alignment with the cycles and seasons of nature

  2. Asana (postures) and mindful movement as essential tools for health and wellbeing.

  3. The power of the breath to still the mind and rejuvenate the body.

Laura has a soft, supportive and informative approach to her teaching.

β€œWhere your attention goes, the energy flows”  is a powerful adage that originated from the ancient texts of Qi Gong. Laura says - β€˜once you have an experience of this it can profoundly change your life’ - BUT it takes practice and she is continually learning how to apply these yoga teachings while sharing them with her community.
